The Real Cost of Falling Behind on DSCSA Compliance

April 30, 2025

The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) deadlines for certain exemptions from enhanced security requirements have been extended, with different timelines for various trading partners. For eligible trading partners, the exemptions will expire on the following dates: May 27, 2025, for manufacturers and repackagers; August 27, 2025, for wholesale distributors; and November 27, 2025, for dispensers with 26 or more pharmacists and technicians.

As the DSCSA deadlines get closer, the risks of non-compliance are bigger than ever. It's not just about avoiding FDA fines anymore — missing serialization data, bad EPCIS exchanges, or poor exception handling can lead to delayed shipments, product recalls, and lost trust with partners and patients.

Beyond penalties, a compliance miss can jam up your supply chain and hurt your reputation fast. Pharmacies and hospitals need suppliers they can count on, and one mistake can mean losing critical business.

DSCSA 2025 is about more than checking boxes — it's about building safer, more efficient operations. If your data isn’t clean and your exceptions aren't handled fast, you’re at risk.
